I am the director of strategic initiatives and partnerships at public K-8 charter school in Northern California. This means I get to do fun projects with students and teachers focused on school initiatives, teacher development, and student learning.
I work to integrate technology and hands-on learning into the classroom. I develop and lead professional development for my school, helping teachers develop project-based learning and design thinking units, integrate technology and digital citizenship in the classroom, and create opportunities for real world interactions and projects.
For the second year, I am helping to design and implement a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics)-focused project-based learning practicum where my colleagues and I work with 35 teachers from our county to develop teacher leaders and increase teacher and student of integrating STEAM, PBL, and other core content.
For my efforts, I was named Santa Clara County’s Office of Education Charter School Teacher of Year for 2013 and a 2014 Comcast All-Star Teacher. I am also a 2014 Google Certified Innovator, a Common Sense Education ambassador, and National Geographic Educator.
In addition, I am a Teachers Guild Creative Catalyst and Teacher Coach. The Teachers Guild uses design thinking and teachers to solve pressing educational problems.
